**** Another '90s track revived by a random dance act in the '10s, but similar to 'Bump & Grind 2014', this somehow works wonders after a few listens. Definitely growing on me at the moment. Last edited: 23.11.2015 11:39
**** As TravD said, the charts have been awash with dance remakes of old tracks in the past couple of years (e.g. "The Party (This Is How We Do It)", "Easy Love", "Nobody To Love", and "Bump N Grind 2014") and all of them have the same appeal. "The Girl Is Mine" is no different. It's enjoyable with a nice enough beat. Won't go down in history, but will be good to hear in a club and it's always nice to hear old tracks you used to love getting a go again. I especially like the "can I please talk to you for a minute" section borrowed from "The Boy Is Mine".
Apparently this track was ready for release in 2014, but Monica wouldn't clear the sample. May explain why her vocal contribution to "The Boy Is Mine" is not included.
**** The charts have not been awash with dance remakes of old tracks in the past couple of years. There's been a few lately whereas there was next to none in the early 2010s, which may give the impression of some kind of awashment but real awashment was in the mid to late 2000s. :P
** Girl was already a terrible song, so I guess congratulations are in order for finding a way to make it sound worse. Good on Monica for declining any part in this, much respect. This is annoying and stupid.
